Baltic Cruise 2009 – St. Petersburg, Russia (morning of day one)

As a young man, there were many world destinations I had hoped to visit in my lifetime. But while growing up, I never thought I’d ever get to Russia, let alone the historic city of St. Petersburg. It was closed off to the west, and we thought it always would be. That is, until the iron curtain fell in 1989. Nancy and I chose this Baltic cruise specifically because St. Petersburg was a two day port-of-call, and the excursions would take us into the heart of the city and its amazing sites. And, despite lousy weather, we were not disappointed.

See St. Petersburg, Russia in the Travels/Baltic Cruise 2009 section of this blog.

About wordswithbrad

Let's see. I guess first and foremost I am a life wanderer on a journey of discovery and experience. Can you tell I am a child of the sixties? Along the way I have become many things ... a College Professor (now retired after 28 wonderful years), a writer of both fiction and nonfiction, a singer/songwriter, a musician, an artist, a world traveler, a fan of science fiction and history, and a student of human nature. But my greatest accomplishments are being father to two of the most amazing and accomplished young men I have ever known, and husband to the incredible and delightful woman who made that possible.
